Cobb County embarked upon constructing this building in 1966. The building,
known as the Public Safety Building, was located on Washington Avenue and
completed in 1968. The street address was changed after Flournoy Park was created
and portions of Washington Avenue were removed.
The five (5) story building is home to several governmental
agencies. These include the Sheriff's Office, Magistrate Court, and Pretrial Court Services. Over the
years, the building has been home to many other agencies and departments of Cobb County.
The Superior Court North, Superior Court South, and Public Safety buildings are
joined by a common atrium with the main public entrance from Waddell Street (
west side of building). This entrance is staffed and open 24 hours a day 7 days
a week. A secondary entrance from Flournoy Park on Roswell Street (South side of
building depicted in the photograph) is open Monday – Friday 07:30 AM – 5:30 PM.
