Volunteers

The Sheriff's Office implemented a program in 1996 to utilize an untapped resource of the community. This vast resource consists of individuals that may be retired and wish to contibute to their community through the Sheriff's Office.

We currently have approximately 40 volunteers contributing more than 1,000 hours per month. This represents a significant savings to the citizens of Cobb County and an immense help to our agency.

Kimberly Norrell is assigned to the Field Operations Division and coordinates the volunteer program.

Volunteers serve the citizens of Cobb County in many ways. The following provides some example of the efforts to help:

  • Conduct visitation enrollment at the jail
  • Answer telephones and direct callers to appropriate area
  • Perform a variety of duties in the bonding area of the jail
  • Perform a variety of duties in the release area of the jail
  • Perform a variety of duties in the intake area of the jail
  • Perform clerical and data entry duties
